Road Deputy
Road Deputies perform law enforcement, control traffic flow, enforce state and local traffic regulations, perform investigative work, participate in and provide support and assistance to special crime prevention and enforcement programs, and perform a variety of administrative tasks.
Platte County Detention Officers are responsible for the security and well-being of the inmates in the detention center as well as for the safety and welfare of the community. The Detention Center has 18-20 positions for Detention Officers.
Detention Center Controllers are responsible for maintaining a secure environment within the Platte County Detention Center. They operate and maintain a collection of state-of-the-art camera systems, and also track and log in detailed detention information, including a comprehensive visitor’s log.
The Communications Division is in charge of all 911 Emergency management in Platte County. The Dispatchers are responsible for receiving calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and relaying those calls to the proper agency. In addition to these duties, Dispatchers also run criminal histories for the office. There are six full-time dispatch positions.
The Administrative staff includes three full-time Administrative Secretaries who manage the day-to-day office duties of both the Sheriff’s Office and the Detention Center.

  • 21 years of age by date of hire
  • have or obtain a valid Wyoming drivers license with a safe driving record by date of hire
  • High School diploma or GED

  • Score 70% or better on written test
  • Pass basic typing test
  • Pass Wyoming law enforcement Academy fitness entry test
  • Pass oral interview
  • Pass background investigation
  • Pass a psychological exam
  • Pass interview with Sheriff
  • Pass medical exam
  • Pass drug screening
  • Pass fingerprint screening

Candidates passing the mentioned tests and background investigation will receive a conditional job offer. The applicant will then complete a psychological and medical exam. After all tests and evaluations are complete and have acceptable results, the candidate will then receive the final job offer.
